ART, ALZHEIMER’S & CREATIVITY

Roundtable Event Presented by: Law Office of William J. Brisk

Participation in arts and culture programming can improve the quality of life for people living with Alzheimer’s and their care partners.

Artists for Alzheimer’s® (ARTZ) is a 501(c) (3) initiative of the Hearthstone Alzheimer’s Foundation, founded in 2001, with the purpose of enhancing the cultural and creative life of people living with Alzheimer’s disease.

ARTZ draws on the support and collaboration of artists and cultural institutions, as a collective resource, to share, educate and inspire. ARTZ has developed Alzheimer’s-specific cultural access programs with some of the worlds most renowned and respected cultural institutions, including the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Kohler Arts Center in Wisconsin, the National Gallery of Australia, the Big Apple Circus, and the Tribeca Film Institute, among others. The ARTZ network has been developed in Boston , New York , Stuttgart , London , Melbourne , Madrid , and Paris .

In Massachusetts , ARTZ has developed the ARTZ Massachusetts Museum Network, a free, weekly interactive tour experience at Peabody Essex Museum , the deCordova Museum & Sculpture Park , the Fuller Craft Museum , the National Heritage Museum , and the Museum of Natural History at Harvard University . In addition ARTZ partners with the Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation in Brookline to produce “Meet Me at the Coolidge…and make memories,” a program using iconic clips of classic films to stimulate participants’ dialogue and reminiscence, “Meet Me at the Coolidge…and make memories” held four times a year. It is the first program of its kind in the United States .
